BPA (Bisphenol-A) is an ingredient used to make plastics called polycarbonate.  In an effort to address public concern regarding BPA, we are committed to keeping our consumers informed.

WHAT IS BISPHENOL-A ("BPA")?

  • BPA is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate plastic.

WHY DO YOU SAY "BPA FREE IN FOOD ZONES?"

  • The "Food Zone" is where this appliance processes or prepares your food. This appliance does not use Bisphenol-A (polycarbonate plastic) in any Food Zone. 

IS BISPHENOL-A IN ANY OTHER PLASTICS THAT PROCTOR SILEX USES?

  • BPA is used to make polycarbonate plastic.  The other plastics in our products do not contain Bisphenol-A. 

WHY DO CERTAIN PRODUCTS CONTAIN THIS LOGO  AND SOME DO NOT?

  • Proctor Silex wants to inform consumers by identifying its products that do not use Bisphenol-A in Food Zones.

WHAT DOES THE  SYMBOL MEAN?

  • This is a universal recycling symbol.
  • The “7” refers to an “other” or “miscellaneous” category of materials, while numbers “1” through “6” refer to specific materials
  • Polycarbonate plastic is not the only plastic included in the “other” category.
  • The symbol does not indicate the safety of the plastic. 

WHY DO SOME PROCTOR SILEX PLASTIC PARTS NOT HAVE RECYCLE SYMBOLS ON THEM?

  • Primarily because they are intended to be re-used, not recycled.
