Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic 
  • 1 can (15.5 ounce) garbanzo beans, drained and reserve 1/3 cup liquid 
  • 1/4 cup tahini 
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice 
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil 
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 
  • Pita chips 
  • Crackers 
  • Grape tomatoes 
  • Celery sticks 
  • Baby carrots 
  • Sliced cucumbers 
  • Sliced peppers 
  • Crumbled feta 
  • Kalamata olives 

Directions

  1. Using a Chopping/Pureeing blade with food processor running, add garlic into food chute. Add beans, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt. Process until desired consistency. 
  2. Serve with pita chips, crackers, assorted vegetables, feta, and olives. 

Red Pepper Hummus: Reduce reserved garbanzo bean liquid to 3 tablespoons and reduce lemon juice to 2 tablespoons. Follow recipe Hummus recipe and add ½ cup patted dry roasted red peppers to food processor food chute. 

Beet Hummus: Substitute cannellini beans for garbanzo beans. Reduce reserved bean liquid to 3 tablespoons and reduce lemon juice to 2 tablespoons. Follow Hummus recipe and add ½ cup drained canned sliced beets, patted dry to food processor food chute. 

Spinach Hummus: Substitute cannellini beans for garbanzo beans. Increase reserved bean liquid to ½ cup. Add ½ cup defrosted frozen chopped spinach, squeezed dry when adding garlic. Follow recipe until desired consistency.
