Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 small (100 g) onion
- 2 cloves (8.5 g) garlic
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 1 can (28 ounces) San Marzano whole tomatoes, undrained
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon granulated sugar
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
- In bowl of a food processor fitted with the chopping blade, add onion and garlic. Process on medium-high until finely chopped.
- In a large saucepan on medium-high, heat butter and olive oil. Add onion, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Cook until onion and garlic are soft.
- Add onion mixture, tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, and sugar to food processor bowl. Process on medium-high until pureed.
- Pour mixture back into saucepan and simmer on low, stirring constantly to prevent splatters, for 5 to 10 minutes or until thick. Stir in Parmesan cheese.
- Spread thinly over pizza dough and bake following pizza directions.
