Pepperoni Pizza Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 3 cups pizza sauce, divided
- 3 cups pizza-blend cheese, divided
- 20 pepperoni slices, divided
- Basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Preheat waffle maker. Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Divide pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Form each piece into a ball and place on a plate. Let dough balls rest, covered with plastic wrap, for 10 minutes.
- Roll out each dough ball into a 6-inch circle. (See Tip below)
- Place one circle on waffle maker. Cook until golden brown or desired doneness.
- Place cooked waffle on a cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough circles.
- Top each waffle with ¾ cup pizza sauce, ¾ cup cheese, and 5 pepperoni slices.
- Bake in oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with torn basil leaves, if using.
Makes: Four (6-inch) round waffles
Test Kitchen Tips
- Use a gallon-sized resealable plastic freezer bag to easily roll out the dough. Cut the top off the bag. Cut the two sides open. Insert one ball of dough at a time. Roll out into a 6-inch circle and proceed to Step 5.
- There are endless possibilities for creating a Pizza Waffle: cooked bacon, peppers, onions, cooked sausage, or mushrooms, just to name a few. Get creative and have fun adding your favorite pizza toppings.
