Pepperoni Pizza Waffles recipe

From The Proctor Silex Test Kitchen

Added by Lynne

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 3 cups pizza sauce, divided
  • 3 cups pizza-blend cheese, divided
  • 20 pepperoni slices, divided
  • Basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat waffle maker. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Divide pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Form each piece into a ball and place on a plate. Let dough balls rest, covered with plastic wrap, for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll out each dough ball into a 6-inch circle. (See Tip below)
  4. Place one circle on waffle maker. Cook until golden brown or desired doneness.
  5. Place cooked waffle on a cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough circles.
  6. Top each waffle with ¾ cup pizza sauce, ¾ cup cheese, and 5 pepperoni slices.
  7. Bake in oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with torn basil leaves, if using.

Makes: Four (6-inch) round waffles

Test Kitchen Tips

  • Use a gallon-sized resealable plastic freezer bag to easily roll out the dough. Cut the top off the bag. Cut the two sides open. Insert one ball of dough at a time. Roll out into a 6-inch circle and proceed to Step 5.
  • There are endless possibilities for creating a Pizza Waffle: cooked bacon, peppers, onions, cooked sausage, or mushrooms, just to name a few. Get creative and have fun adding your favorite pizza toppings.
